Boots came into us just before Christmas last year. He was abandoned by his owners and picked up by one of our Inspectors. He is a lovely, friendly boy and we think about 12 years old. However, when we took him to the vets to get checked over, we discovered he has hyperthyroidism and a thickened heart wall.
He will need to be on medication for his hyperthyroidism for the rest of his life, and have blood tests every 3 months to monitor the condition. He will also need annual heart scans to check for any deterioration. All this will cost the branch around £2,000 per year.
We want Boots to have the happiest, best life possible so will still find a lovely adoption home for him. However as the new owner will not be able to secure insurance for these pre-existing conditions, RSPCA South London Branch will continue to fund his treatment.
If you can give anything, we would be hugely grateful to help us cover these costs and make sure Boots stays happy and healthy and lives a long life.
