Welcome to Breaking the Cycle - a bicycle ride from Land's End to John O'Groats.

The organiser of this extraordinary challenge, Ben Lane (who is in recovery), aims for the ride to help raise awareness, break the stigma and celebrate life and living. He will be cycling almost 1,000 miles on road, over 7 to 9 days and hopes others who are in recovery, or on a similar journey of their own, will join him on the ride or donating to help to raise much needed funds for The Forward Trust.

This will be a tough task, requiring a high level of fitness as there will be around 120 miles covered a day to ensure the ride is completed with 9 days or less. The plan is to secure a support vehicle with spare bike parts, sleeping bags and food, but otherwise the riders will be on their own, toughing it out on the road! Helping and supporting each other on every inch of road travelled will be essential - we all have our good days and bad days!

"Whoever joins this adventure must be on a genuine journey themselves. We want to create a genuine story and experience from start to finish. We want to live the lives, on this journey, of those have reached rock bottom through addiction, unemployment and homelessness. With that in mind we have a "no spending" rule, and we will be relying on those we meet along the way to help where they can. We will be entirely unsupported in terms of food and accommodation and are hoping for assistance along the way. The only items we have allowed along are spare parts for bikes and a change of clothes. We are intending to make this journey as genuine and tough as we can!"
