Visit the charity's profileMeet Breeze, he joined our Horse Ranger family in 2013 and is a firm favourite with all of our members. Breeze got rushed to hospital with Colic symptoms on 1st March. He had surgery where they found a strangulated Lipoma in the small intestine. He had 10 foot of intestine removed that was damaged from the lipoma cutting off the blood supply causing the gut to die off.
His recovery has had a few hurdles - he had a few seizures which was a massive worry, he went onto anti seizure drugs for a short period which sorted him out and they haven't returned . Then 10 days after surgery he started showing signs of pain and was very poorly, tests confirmed he had peritonitis, he had to go back to theatre to see what was causing it. The repair of his intestines looked great and was working well so they flushed out all the infection and sewed him back up.
He's been in Intensive Care unit getting the best care. He's kept all the vet surgeons, nurses and us on our toes with worry. He is now back on feed and hay and walking out to hand graze. He is progressing daily.
Breeze is one of our most useful horses and loved by all our members. He is insured but we are way over the maximum limit so need some help to cover the cost.
