Build Benny's Barn

Benny's Barn will be a specialised unit for dogs who are unable to be rehomed due to behavioural issues. It is essential that we can provide them with a permanent home where they can live together as one little family.

Almost Home Animal Rescue (NI) was founded with the vision that every animal's life matters. Our focus is on helping those most in need, and rehoming them only when they are ready. When selecting new homes we are especially careful to make sure that the match is right for both animals and owners.

Story

Almost Home Animal Rescue NI is based in Moira and was set up in 2013 to help homeless animals. We aim to give unwanted, neglected and abandoned animals a chance of happiness, as well as caring for several animals at the premises that will remain for longer periods of time due to either health or behavioural problems. We receive no government funding, have no paid staff and we rely solely on a small team of dedicated volunteers to look after our animals.

We have recently recognised the need for the construction of a new unit, which we have decided to name 'Benny's Barn'. Benny's Barn will be a specialised unit built to house dogs in our care who are not able to be rehomed due to behavioural issues. As a shelter that frequently takes in dogs needing extra help, it is essential that we can provide these dogs with a permanent home where they can live in comfort together as one little family for as long as they need to.

At Almost Home we recognise that every animal regardless of breed, size, or ease of rehoming are important. We work alongside trained behaviourists and veterinary practitioners to ensure that both the physical and emotional needs of an animal are met. Over time, we have several dogs who although are able to live a healthy and happy life with us here at Almost Home they are unable to be rehomed into the community. By building a specialist unit we can give these dogs much more freedom to enjoy their life here with us.

Benny's Barn will be a welcome addition alongside our existing unit 'Heather House' - our retirement home for older dogs which has been featured on ITV:

If you feel you are able to donate towards the construction of Benny's Barn we would be so grateful, as would our little furry friends Olive, Juliet, Bill, Ben, Bob and Bert who can't wait to call Benny's Barn home!
