Burton Rugby Football Club has been providing opportunities for children & adults in the local area to participate in rugby for over 150 years. At the last count, we had 650 players from 3 yrs old through to senior players, boys and girls, ladies and men.
Our philosophy is to provide a fun & safe environment for players of all ages to learn & play rugby with the added benefit of socialising with each other afterward, creating lifelong memories & friendships.
The 2020/21 season was one of the club's biggest challenges and one of the most difficult in our history. Our usual funding streams had all been affected, as has the whole community in Burton throughout the pandemic.
They were unprecedented times but together, we were stronger, and the response from our members was fantastic when asked to help out. Burton RUFC sought to raise money to save the club from the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic and improve the facilities at the new ground which we did through our 'Be part of it' campaign.
Our invitation to 'be part of it' in 2021 was an offer that we hoped appealed to all of our Members, players and their families who are part of or have been part of the Burton Rugby Club. We needed financial support to help us through the challenging period as a result of the impacts on our income of the COVID 19 pandemic.
The success of the campaign, thanks to all of your support, blew us away and we've received further interest in sponsoring trees.
1. For a donation of £250 you sponsor a mature tree in the Battlestead Wood which will shelter the ground and overlook the pitches for many years to come. With each donation, we will provide a plaque for your personal messages to share your thoughts across 3 lines of text, 32 characters per line. The trees will be planted in the winter of '22, the ideal time for planting trees and you'll be invited to be as involved as you want to be with the actual planting of the tree you'll be sponsoring.
Depending on how successful this campaign is we may well have choices to add to the wood we started in '21 or to create a 2nd wood within our grounds.
Our ground of over a 34 acre site needs constant maintenance and requires a variety of equipment so, in order to support this, the Club needs to build a bespoke plant and maintenance building. The funds for this need to be found in order to house all the equipment securely.
We're also working on re-locating the original gates to the new site which will cost in the region of £5,000.
As a Club, we're registered with HMRC as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC). One of the benefits of being CASC registered is that we're able to claim gift aid on donations made in fundraising campaigns like 'be part of it'.
We're dedicating trees to the Battlestead Wood in receipt of your sponsorship. All the trees will remain the property of BRFC for us to maintain so you can feel confident to tick the box when prompted, to claim the gift aid that's provided by HMRC to support charities and CASCs.
If you've chosen to sponsor a tree then you should receive a link within our 'thank you' message to confirm your engraving requirements as long as you logged into JustGiving before you made your donation. If you donated as a 'guest' in JustGiving, then you'll need to use the link below to confirm your engraving details. Please note that engraving details need to be submitted before 31st October '22.
