Story
2020 has been a very challenging year for so many. Schools in South Sudan and Uganda closed in mid-March due to the pandemic and the education programmes we support were suspended as children were unable to attend school. As you can imagine it has been an extremely difficult year for the children and the staff.
With your help CCC managed to arrange four private teachers who came to teach at the compound, an increased challenge with social distancing requirements and 100 children at the care centre in Juba and over 40 at the house in Uganda. This continues for the time being for those children who are not preparing for exams.
We were very pleased to hear that as of mid-October school has re-started for candidate classes (those preparing for exams) in South Sudan and Uganda. With your support CCC UK was able to send some emergency support to Uganda and South Sudan earlier in the year. However, school fees have gone up, while the economic situation for many people is dire. School fees are now being requested in South Sudan for the remainder of the year/beginning of 2021 for those year groups. We hope other year groups may be able to start school again in early 2021 as well. We would be really grateful for your continued support for school fees and support costs (school uniforms and materials as well as the critical support from the CCC team).
We would love to hear from you and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
