It's a huge challenge, and we're hoping to get you all on board! Get together with your friends, family or colleagues and track how far you can run, swim or cycle in one. Commit to a challenge and get your family and friends to sponsor you!
We are hoping to raise £2000 through this challenge, to support our work with the children of Colombia. Donations are not a requirement to get involved but anything you are able to donate or raise from your community would be hugely appreciated.
We work with several partners in Colombia to support children and their families to challenge poverty, inequality and violence. When a child claims their right to live safely and in peace, they are helping to make Colombia safer and happier for all Colombians. With your help children can change Colombia.
For example, we work with Circulo de Estudios to reduce conflict-related sexual violence against children in Quibdó. Their work with children is centred on the principle of a 'circulo' or 'circle', a one to one-and-a-half day workshop which combines psychosocial support and training in children's rights with dance. All of the training uses practical exercises to make sure the children understand and can apply what they have learnt.
Hear what Alicia has to say about her experience with Circulo de Estudios
Horrible things used to happen at home that made me cry and made me angry. I didn't know what to do so I used to self-harm - it was the only thing that calmed me down. Now I've left that all behind and express myself through dancing and singing! Its taught me to respect my body and share my emotions instead of bottling them up. Dancing inspires me and makes me happy!"
With your support, more children like Alicia will have the chance to develop life-changing artistic skills, build their confidence, and stay safe from the violence that surrounds them.
