Story

Our CHS Support Fund was set up in 2017 to help support the vulnerable young people living in our Support Housing services. Most of our residents don't have the support network many of us are lucky to have, so when something comes along in life where normally we would turn to family or friends for help financially or emotionally, our residents don't have that and so the aim of the fund is to step in and offer that support.

The Coronavirus has proved to be challenging for everyone, but sadly it is hitting our young people very hard:

Isolation - Many of our young people are on basic Pay As You Go mobile phone packages due to limited funds and so we want to upgrade their packages so they can have more contact with the outside world during this crisis .

Financial hardship - our young people already had limited funds before the Coronavirus and as many are now not able to work, they do not have the funds for basic essentials like food, toiletries and basic clothing. We want to be able to give them the funds so they can buy these.

Mental Health - Many of our young people were already experiencing poor mental health and the increased isolation and lack of stimulation is having a huge effect on their mental well-being - we want to provide them with the opportunity to get involved in some service based projects so that they can focus their time positively and constructively to help improve their mental health. We want to be able to provide the materials and equipment needed to start projects within each service like gardening, fitness & exercise, cooking, decorating and craft activities.

We all know, life as a young person is tougher now than it has ever been, and most young people can rely on family and friends to help them through tough times. Sadly, most of our young service users don't have a support network to rely on and this impacts massively on how they see themselves in the world and their future potential. We want to raise money so that we can help and support our young people through this very difficult period so that they come out of this crisis stronger and more resilient. Sometimes a little bit of help at just the right time, is all it takes to make a huge difference in life.

All our services support vulnerable people in our community, many of which are at risk of homelessness or have mental health issues.
