Camrose Winter Fundraiser 2021 to help those who are homeless and vulnerably housed

Please help us raise funds to maintain our critical services for the homeless and vulnerably housed in Basingstoke this winter. We are seeing an increased demand for our services - hot meals, warm clothing, and support from our team. A big thank you.

Story

As the cold days of winter arrive, the demand for our critical services supporting homeless and vulnerably housed people is increasing. Hot meals and drinks, clean warm clothes, practical help and advice are just some of the ways we are helping those in need, week in week out.

Day to day we rely heavily on our team of dedicated volunteers, but the reality is we need financial support to enable us to continue to provide our services - including paying for our expert support workers, and the overhead costs of simply keeping the Centre running.

Our aim is to raise £5000 which will cover our costs over this busy winter period. By donating you can be sure that you are making a tangible difference to the lives those who are really in need.

Thank you SO much.

From Clare and the team at The Camrose Centre.

A bit about our cover star "P":

"P" was a familiar figure on the streets of Basingstoke for many years, and used the services provided by The Camrose Centre almost every week. A popular character, he was liked and respected by everyone and affectionately known as 'Grandad'. After many years of sleeping rough, one year he engaged with the 'Night Light' Winter Shelter; this helped to convince him that he was now becoming too old for a life on the streets. The authorities engaged with him, and he was soon settled into a room in a supported hostel. Although he readily adapted to this new lifestyle, the many years he had spent on the streets had taken a toll on him and he sadly passed away only a few months later. The photograph is taken from a street interview that he did on homelessness for a BBC news feature.
