Story
Imagine going to sleep on Christmas Eve without a bed.
Imagine waking up on Christmas morning cold and hungry.
Imagine trying to explain to your children why Santa didn't visit.
Imagine being unable to cook your children a hot meal, let alone a Christmas dinner, because your cooker is broken and you cant afford a new one....
This is the harsh reality for so many local families living without the basics in life. Illness, family breakdown, mental health issues and redundancy can all act as tipping points and create real hardship.
You can give a Christmas gift this year that will change lives and not just for Christmas.
Last year our amazing supporters donated over £6k to our Christmas campaign and changed so many lives - not just for the winter but long term. Together we can do even more this year!
For every £10 donated, you will help access £50 from charitable trusts that are available for local families in need which means you can give an extra special gift this Christmas
£5 donation = £25: You would heat a home for a week
£10 donation = £50: You would feed a family for a week
£25 donation = £125: You would buy a child a bed
£40 donation = £200: You would buy a cooker for a family
£100 donation = £500: You would buy essential items for a family to set up a new home after a period of homelessness
Your Christmas gift really will help to change lives, starting today...
Help more families like Fay's....
Fay (60) is a widower who lives in rented accommodation with her son and her seven year old grand-daughter. Fay was employed until an injury sustained at work left her with limited mobility and in constant pain. Her son is now her main carer and as such the family have an extremely limited income. This meant that when the familys cooker broke they didnt have the funds to buy a replacement. The family were facing a Christmas with no way of enjoying a hot meal together. Fay burst into tears of happiness when our team told her that we were providing a new cooker and that she would have it in time for Christmas.
and Molly's...
Molly and her mum were referred to us in desperate need. Their home was infested with mice and they had problems with damp which had caused mould throughout their home, and had spread to their beds. They were in discussions with the Council to sort out the problem but in the meantime they were both forced to sleep on the settee each night as Mollys mum had no means to buy new beds. We were able to provide two new beds for Molly and her mum.
and Mary...
Mary (78) had lived alone for some years following the death of her husband. Many household items were in need of replacement including her cooker meaning shed not eaten a hot meal for weeks but living on a state pension she didnt have the funds. Charity Link bought a cooker and other items to enable Mary to stay in her home.
You support really will change lives... Thank you.
