Childhood Day is a day that brings everyone in the UK together to protect children. Whether you fundraise, donate, volunteer or take action, all we ask is that you play your part to help keep children safe.
This Childhood Day on 10 June, schools around the UK are joining in with The Big Breaktime!
What is The Big Breaktime?
The Big Breaktime takes place on Childhood Day. It's a chance for everyone to have a big and exciting hour-long break from the school day to focus on playing and having fun. We're asking everyone to down tools, connect, reflect, unwind, and have fun in whatever way suits them best. And for a small donation each, they will be playing their part to keep children safe from abuse.
It's very easy to set up. All it takes is an hour-long break at a time of day that best suits your timetable. Invite pupils and staff to come along and give a small suggested donation.
We know that strong communities keep children safe, and with primary schools at the heart of villages, towns and cities across the country, we need as many as possible to join us to play together, raise money and help keep children safe.
For 2022, we are celebrating play through the ages with many fun ideas from rounders to board games and ball games to card games. There will also be downloadable activities including Bing's Big Breaktime resources, fun activities from the much-loved CBeebies show for Early years and nurseries, and a resource from Ant and Decs Propa Happy book for older children.
The money you raise could help to fund Childline, a service that's there 24/7, for any child or young person to turn to, or it could help the NSPCC to visit more schools as part of their Speak Out Stay Safe programme, giving children the knowledge and confidence to speak out about anything that's worrying them, including abuse, so they can get help.
