Story

About Netherfield Forum

Netherfield Forum comprises two centres:

Firstly, St George's Centre, which is a multi-purpose community facility opened in March 2005, and provides support, social activities and information in the heart of Netherfield. We provide a wide range of essential advice and information services, including a jobs club and weekly Citizens Advice appointments, as well as subsidised lunches and affordable social eating in school holidays, and many regular activities and clubs. All of these help to improve the life chances, health and well-being of local people, some of whom are extremely vulnerable,

Secondly, the Loco Centre which is located 240m from St George's. It compliments the services at St George's by providing much needed children and young people's activities and specialist young people's services. These include a youth club for older young people, an inclusive youth club, theatre and music groups, and health activities for older people.

Our vision for the future

We now have a wonderful opportunity to relocate, expand and develop the services currently provided at the Loco centre to the site of the former Medical Centre, immediately adjacent to St George's on Forester Street, Netherfield. This will allow children, young people and families to access the existing clubs and activities offered at Loco, as well as extra services. These will include Nottinghamshire County Council's Children and Families service and Youth Provision, young people's mental health/crisis intervention, sexual health services Youth Justice outreach and training and employment services.

We also plan to develop specific services to reflect the needs of emerging cultural groups in the area. We will undertake targeted consultation around the needs of these communities. In addition, we will offer complimentary interventions and developmental activities in line with the new Social Prescribing Policy, which recognises that many of the causes of ill-health in deprived communities stem from isolation from local social, health and well-being activities.

Thank you so much for helping us to continue to support the community of Netherfield and surrounding areas. We already have an outstanding track record in delivering a holistic, cross sector family approach to vulnerable families and and youth dissatisfaction in the deprived area of Netherfield. With your help, we'll be able to further build on our success.
