Christmas isn't easy for survivors - they've had to leave their home, often their treasured possessions too, to make the brave step towards living a life free from abuse.
Following the events of 2020, this year is going to be even harder as the feelings of isolation and anxiety are at an all-time high and the worry that Father Christmas won't be able to visit affects our young survivors in refuge in Thanet and Dover.
Christmas in refuge can be a confusing time for our young survivors. Our priority is to make them feel safe and comfortable - usually, they have had to leave their belongings behind, so we give them cosy new pyjamas and slippers, reassure them by answering all their questions, and let them know that Santa will still visit. Knowing that people care through their kindness goes a long way to help them to learn that love can exist without it causing pain, hurt or danger.
By donating to us this Christmas time you can help us to get presents to our refuge children, providing food for the festive period for families in refuge and run fun activities for them to enjoy.
