Story

We've been working really hard behind the scenes to secure a permanent hub for our guests... but we need your help!

Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who has generously donated to this campaign so far! We are blown away by your kindness, so please accept our gratitude for your incredible support.

Please know we are doing all we can to make this goal a reality, whether its working with an amazing team of property surveyors at Cushman & Wakefield, pounding the pavements scouting for spaces, attending viewings, or exploring all avenues of possibility to get up and running again. We arent giving up and we are so grateful for your support!

So, why are we fundraising?

As many of you may know, in the past 2 years we have been moved 5 times. When we are constantly moving around, our guests begin to lose trust in our service. Having lived without the security of a home, CoTH's Founder Sinéad Browne knows first hand the stress that this instability causes.

The issue is, without paying the high commercial rent prices, we dont have the luxury of a secure tenancy. Which is why we are calling on our amazing supporters for help.

Why dont we have a hub?

Occupying our last hub for free meant we were in an unstable position as tenants, subject to eviction at very short notice- despite offering to pay rent, this ended in us being forced to leave.

More bad luck came our way when, in December 2021 after a year-long negotiation for a property on Station Road, the landlord pulled out at the last minute taking us back to square one. But we wont let that stop us.

We are determined to give our guests the stability and security they deserve and we wont give up without a fight!

What have we been working on?

Were working extremely hard to secure a new food redistribution hub in Brixton which will allow us to continue nourishing our guests with and through food. We are working with a team of professionals to help us locate and negotiate the lease for a new hub where we will run our food provision service as well as personal and professional development workshops for our guests.

With the help of architects we are reimagining food charity through the design of our new hub. Their 3d model really brings the space to life and now we can't wait to see the real thing!

We have big visions for the hub; it'll be a one stop shop for all our guests well-being needs.

What do we have planned for the hub?

On top of our usual food redistribution service, the hub will be a community space built to nourish guests in all aspects of their lives through Back to Work training workshops, hosting AA and other support group meetings, complete with a library, office and a projector for movie nights- trust us, we've thought of everything!

We're putting all we've got into making this hub a safe space for our guests who should be able to access our service without the disruption of moving again; and we need your help to make our visions for the hub become a reality!

If you would like to make a contribution to help us achieve our goal of securing a home, we would be extremely grateful!

And if you have already donated, thank you so much again for your incredibly kind contribution.

About the charity

Our small, unfunded, grassroots charity collects surplus food to reduce food waste whilst feeding our guests for FREE. We welcome anyone who is need of a meal or support. We are currently partnered with 30 local businesses, and run a Back to Work scheme that supports our guests back into employment.
