Please help children based in the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales to overcome experiences of domestic abuse.

We are asking for donations to help us purchase school uniforms and other school essentials for children and young people who have witnessed and experienced domestic abuse. We support children and young people who have fled abusive households and are staying in our emergency accommodation, and those who live in our local community.

We would be so grateful for your support to allow us to continue our work and to provide relief to these families in need. £1,000 would allow us to support around 10 families who have left everything behind to escape abuse.

Many of the families we support have no local support network of friends and family to help. Many of the children who come to us have nothing. They are fleeing violence and, as a result of having to move suddenly, have had to leave everything behind. On top of this traumatic upheaval, they are having to start attending a new school. Starting a new school is daunting for any child. These children are among the most vulnerable, making a smooth transition much more challenging and so much more important for their safety. Children and young people facing adversity are at an increased risk of poor educational outcomes. We want to help lower the risk by helping them blend in with up to date uniform and school equipment.

Crossroads Derbyshire is a domestic abuse charity. We support adults, young people and children across the whole of the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales. We work with hundreds of people each year to help them to escape domestic abuse and to build a safer future. We offer outreach support in the local community, counselling, emergency accommodation and a specialist refuge (The Harmony Project) for young women and their children who are fleeing abuse.

We offer counselling, one to one and group work for adults and children, and specialist work for young people, which focusses on healthy relationships, self-esteem and safety.

Domestic abuse is rarely a one-off event. It tends to escalate in frequency and severity over time. For families trapped in the cycle of abuse, it can feel like theres nowhere to turn. Thats why Crossroads Derbyshire exists; to help to break the cycle of abuse.
