Story
114 miles is the average weekly distance a Tenovus Cancer Care Mobile Support Unit travels to deliver vital cancer treatments in communities across Wales.
On Sunday 18th December, a group of Tenovus Cancer Cares loyal patrons, corporates and ambassadors will join forces to cycle this distance and raise vital funds for the charity.
Some of these wonderful supporters include Ian Gough, Rupert Moon, Siân Lloyd, Leona Vaughan, Mike Bubbins, Cory Hill, Kate Lewis and Aled Davies, along with ongoing corporate supporters Amplify and others.
Mobile Support Units are in the community bringing treatments closer to home, so people don't have to deal with the stress and costs of travelling miles to hospital. Tenovus Cancer Care works with local health boards to deliver treatments for lymphoedema as well as chemotherapy and immunotherapy. They set up in local car parks, supermarkets, and community venues. They're light, warm, and friendly on board, with the same clinical standards you'd expect from a hospital.
The average weekly running cost for a Unit totals £3,750. Funds raised from this challenge will help Tenovus Cancer Care continue to deliver their services in the community.
If you'd like to support our inspiring participants on this challenge, please donate anything you can no matter how big or small, you will be helping to support people affected by cancer this Christmas and beyond.
