Effingham Cricket Club, like many other sports clubs around the country, is facing difficult and uncertain times. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, cricket is currently not permitted by the ECB and the club must remain closed under the official government guidelines. These policies are likely to be in place for the foreseeable future.

Each year, the club relies on certain income such as membership subscriptions, social events, and match fees in order to meet the costs it incurs to staying running. The clubs ability to pay these costs is largely dependent on the club and its facilities being used during the summer months and, at this time, it remains impossible to say if we will play any cricket at all this summer.

We must all remain hopeful that cricket will resume soon, however, as a club, we must plan for the worst and be prepared for it. With that in mind, we estimate that the clubs unavoidable expenditure may reach as much as £15,000 between now and April 2021. It is our utmost priority for the club to be in the same place or stronger financially and in terms of the state of our facilities this time next year.

Therefore, we are starting a fundraising effort with the aim of raising the £15,000 we need to continue to operate in 2021. Please consider donating what would have been all or part of your 2020 membership through Just Giving.
