Story

We need you to help us complete the restoration of this locomotive to help provide Steam locomotive operations along the East Lancashire Railway for future generations. The locomotive is affectionately known as "Jimmy the Jinty"

Before the Pandemic, we have are approximately half way through repairs to the locomotive boiler, and much of the repair work has been completed on the locomotive frames, to get them ready for re-wheeling the locomotive.

Much of the cab fittings have been repaired and are ready to be refitted. Copper welding on the firebox has been completed, and new foundation ring has been made We are asking for donations to complete the boiler overhaul, which still requires, crown stays in the firebox, and welding in new plate work, new stays, and new tubes.

Here is the boiler up turned to allow work on foundation ring, and lower firebox skirt, image below is the internal boiler barrel.

Here are the frames, awaiting re-uniting with the wheels, which have been recently been turned.

We will continue to work on the locomotive as much as we can with funds available, but with your help, the progress of the locomotives restoration can be enhanced to see the locomotive return to use in 2023.

Any donations, large or small would be very much appreciated. You can opt for a monthly donation if you wish to do so.

We will post updates on the locomotives restoration as it progresses to keep all who have contributed up to date. Please help us to achieve our target and get our Jimmy the Jinty back up and running again along the line!

Thank you on behalf of the East Lancashire Railway
