Our beloved Jinty, No. 47324, is well on her way back to steam! Major milestones already achieved include:

• Re-wheeling the locomotive

• Re-fitting of the connecting rods and brake rigging

• Cab and water tanks cleaned, painted, and re-installed

• A brand new ashpan has been built

Work hasn’t stopped there!

Expert contractors have now machined and fitted key valve gear components. Our dedicated volunteers and engineering team are making excellent progress on the remaining valve gear work.

Even the smallest details are receiving attention:

• New eccentric castings have arrived (produced from patterns made in-house), with the first already fully machined

• A new reverser quadrant has been crafted to replace the worn-out original, along with full re-bushing and re-pinning of the reverser linkage

• The new smokebox and cab have been trial-fitted to ensure perfect alignment before final riveting

Meanwhile, our boiler contractors, Varley Boiler Services, are working hard:

• All crown stays removed

• Internal steam pipework stripped out

• Front ring rebuilt and dressed back

Our target?

To reunite the boiler with the frames before the end of this year, paving the way for fitting out the remaining components in early 2026.

We’re now tantalisingly close—but we still need your support for this final push. With your help, we can return Jinty 47324 to steam and have her proudly hauling trains once again by Summer 2026.
