Story
Richard House Children's Hospice is facing uncertain road ahead in light of the current COVID-19 outbreak, forcing the team to make decisions we never imagined we would face just 3 months ago. Decisions that will impact the lives of hundreds of sick children and their families across east London.
The outbreak of Coronavirus has affected all parts of our society. We are all facing an unprecedented crisis, and were already noticing the impact at Richard House with a substantial drop in our income.
More than ever, it is vital that Richard House is able to provide care for our families and children, many of whom are the most vulnerable and at risk in the current outbreak. Weve been forced to cancel fundraising events and activities planned for the coming months, normally one of our busiest fundraising periods, and close our six charity shops.
The stark reality is, if we dont receive financial support in the coming weeks/months, we could face having to stop providing end-of-life and emergency respite care, and the possibility of closing our doors. With the pressures facing the NHS, our services for those most vulnerable in our community, are needed now more than ever.
In the lead up to Easter, many of our supporters love the idea of delivering chocolate eggs and it comes from a very good place. However, money donated will have more impact on our children, families and services. As they say, what can you buy with chocolate money? With the current outbreak of COVID-19 and the number of people infected growing significantly, it is vital that the hospice does everything it can to continue its operations during this period whilst minimising the risk of COVID-19 entering the hospice i.e. through deliveries of Easter eggs.
There's an option where that money can be used to the best effect. Where it can make a substantial difference. Where the thought really counts!
Richard House is such a small charity and I feel every pound I'm able to give goes to the hospice!
You have been there for Richard House before, and we would like to thank you again. But this time we need to ask for an extra gift - however small! A donation, however small, will be a lifeline for many.
Stay well. Stay safe. Support your local Hospice!
