Story

Did you know disabled peoples living costs are already 25% higher than non disabled peoples before the current cost of living crisis is considered? Disabled people spend an average of £550 a month on costs associated with their disability including transport, specialist equipment and carers.

Frequent news headlines and countless alarming statistics provide a stark reminder of the vast issues disabled people continue to face, many of which have been worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic and current cost of living crisis. Here at Enham Trust we're doing something about it, but we need your help!

Over half of disabled people report the impact of the pandemic continues to affect their wellbeing.

This is now further impacted by the cost of living crisis. Our accessible sports and wellbeing hall provides a programme of supported sports and wellbeing activities.

By donating £5 today, you could help someone attend an accessible sports and wellbeing session.

On top of the increased living costs disabled people face, they are also almost twice as likely to be unemployed as non-disabled people.

Less disposable income, and increased costs related to disability, means the cost of living crisis is increasing the inequalities disabled people face. For over 100 years we have supported disabled people with opportunities to increase work-based skills and confidence, and access supported employment opportunities. This includes increasing digital inclusion through our very own online radio station. This can be the first step for many to enter employment.

By donating £25 to Enham Trust, you could pay for a disabled person to broadcast a weekly live radio show for one month.

Enjoying an active social life and having a circle of support can help people with a learning disability to feel happier, included and valued.

With the ongoing impact disabled people are facing from the pandemic and addition of the cost of living crisis, it's essential that we continue to provide opportunities for even more disabled people to enjoy life this summer.

Just £10 could pay for a disabled person to attend a group upcycling, arts and crafts, choir, or drama session at Enham Trust.
