Carols on the Doorstep started in Shropshire but it is spreading far and wide as more local radio stations including BBC Essex come on board. As one of our team was listening to the radio in early November the idea dawned that this was a great way to bring the Essex community together and join others far and wide in December to sing and play along to carols. This is a moment to unite the nation during these unprecedented times and we hope that this uplifting and much needed Christmas Cheer that everyone will enjoy, will also at the same time benefit some vital local charities who are supporting vulnerable people within the Essex community.
We hope to raise much needed funds to continue the vital work of the Mayor of Chelmsford's charities - Sanctus, Helping Hands Essex & Mid and North East Essex Mind.
A message from the Mayor of Chelmsford:
"This may be a difficult and very different Christmas for many of us with loved ones unable to be with us. We need to make the best of what weve got and I just love the idea of doorstep carolling. Its simple and easy for us to take part in. It will get us into the festive season and raise much needed funds for these very worthy charities."
This venture is also in partnership with Helen Rollason Foundation and Chess Homeless. We also have the amazing support of The Rotary Clubs throughout Essex as we all unite in this Carols on the Doorstep Christmas Fundraising Venture and bring joy to you all.
