Essex Training Solutions are supporting Age Concern Colchester and North East Essex by raising money to help people in later years.

Age Concern Colchester and North East Essex are a charity based in Colchester who is committed to improving the lives of those in later years by enhancing their health and wellbeing. They support the older generation by reducing loneliness and helping the less fortunate out of poverty.

Currently there are an estimated 82,464 people aged 65+ living in Colchester, Tendring and Witham and one in five people aged 75+ are living below the poverty line.

This year, Age concern Colchester & North East Essex supported 1,013 people in later years and delivered £1.1million of benefit entitlements to people who were choosing between heating and eating.

Loneliness increases risk of dying by 26%, yet 1.9 million people in later years, living in the UK often feel ignored or invisible. Age concern Colchester & North East Essex worked with 358 people who were lonely and socially isolated this year and connected them with a volunteer Befriender.

They are now looking for donations to help them continue to deliver these vital services to the older community and expand to Suffolk where these types of services are currently not available.
