In the 1960s, attending Fort Hays State University cost $125 per semester; students could pay for their own education with part-time employment at minimum wage. Those days are long gone. Students today, are paying an estimated $19,334 per year to attend. It has become much more difficult for students to afford their education even at FHSUs state-low tuition.

Having general scholarship money available for deserving FHSU students is key to providing the next generation with numerous opportunities in higher education. Not only do scholarships ease the increasing financial burden of attending school, but also attract and reward exceptional, highly-motivated students to campus.
