Story
An exceptional challenge is underway in collaboration with Peterboroughs Walk Inn Wanderers.
Simon and Matt will be joined by Family Voice Peterborough (FVP) Trustee Magdalena to walk 114 miles, aiming to raise £2500+ for a brand new, accessible and adjustable bed for the FVP Caravan in Butlins, Skegness.
Every year, FVPs accessible holiday caravans host families whose additional needs often prevent them from taking beachside breaks that many take for granted.
Recent visitors described their stay: My son had THE BEST time along with his sister who is 12 and usually doesn't get too involved in activities, etc., but she did this time. It was just amazing to be able to give them the opportunity to do all the activities using the passes.
At Butlins resort, Skegness, the FVP caravan sleeps 6 and is fully wheelchair accessible with ramped access and a wet room. However, getting a great nights sleep is important for everyone, especially on holiday!
Thats why FVP are in need of a new, specially-designed bed for those living with a disability or an age-related health condition, who may need extra support from their bed.
The bed will add a range of benefits, from easing pressure on the back of the parent through to providing an extra place for changing and handling. It will open up opportunities for those families with more complex needs to experience a real holiday.
If the money raised exceeds the goal of £2500, this will gratefully be spent on a new hoist to further make the caravan accessible to all.
Over Easter Weekend 2022, Simon, Matt and Magda aim to travel the entire Nene Way on foot, starting at Badby in Northamptonshire and ending at Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire at The Wash. Anyone is invited to come along to join a leg of the walk.
The journey will be a challenging one, but the power of this incredible cause will see our champions across the finish line.
