Story
All money raised. Every. Single. Penny. is going towards a replacement minibus. Our current 12 seater minibus is now 12 years old. It has been a faithfull workhorse, we have asked a lot of it, but due to its age, it is now starting to be less reliable and this could impact on the services, Filey Lions, provide. We dont want to let the communities of Filey and surrounding area down.
During Covid, the bus, along with Filey Lions, was out on a daily basis, helping those who were isolating. Collecting prescriptions, small amounts of shopping and visits to support those in need of some company.
In the last 18 months, to name a few, Filey Lions Minibus has been used by local childrens football clubs, local schools, Filey Childcare, Brigg Court Elderly Person Group, Filey Fillies, and Chapel Court Ladies Group, plus local Churches.
On top of this we have helped out people in need of emergency transport and helped relocate displaced Ukranian families to their temporary housing in the area.
Not forgetting our fundraising.. ! we use the minimbus for transporting essential events equipment, setting up our famous Filey Lions 10k beach race and pulling Santas Sleigh around the district.
Filey Lions and our minibus, do not just make certain people lives easier by assisting them in a way they need. We want to be at the core of Filey Society and are often the first port of call, when assistance is needed. Helping people with transport, visits etc., goes onto ultimately assist not only the person or group requiring the help, but the people/families around them.
Over the past 10 years weve been planning on a replacement and have been busy building funds for it. so far, we have nearly £40,000.00 set aside, but a new bus is going to be in the region of £50,000.00. Its a huge amount of money, but we dont want to wait another 10 years to reach it.
So, we have set a target of £10,000.00 with the aim of buying a new/preloved minibus in 2023.
We love serving our community and desperately want to continue the work we have been doing since 1964. So please.. donate what you can. Every single penny really does help.
