Story

2020 was a year full of disappointments, to put it lightly, with job furloughs, cancelled holidays and postponed weddings to name but a few. However, it was also a year that sparked hope with neighbours looking out for one another, random acts of kindness being performed and rainbows popping up in windows.

Here at Friends of Serenity we launched our Rainbow Baby Boxes for the East Lancashire families who have their rainbow baby after being referred through the Rainbow Clinic. These have been hugely successful and in just 8 months we've supplied the clinic with 75 boxes! As we move into 2021 we want to boost our fundraising efforts in order to make more rainbow boxes and other rainbow keepsakes to provide for families who have their rainbow baby regardless of their referral pathway. The boxes cost us between £45-£50, (costing the charity around £3750 in just 8 months) to create with each item carefully selected and wrapped by hand.

Can you help us raise funds or even donate towards our campaign? Why not share your disappointment of 2020 by spreading some hope and rainbows by donating to the campaign and writing in the comments why you've donated? As little as £2 allows a family family to capture those precious rainbow footprints and £45 will pay for a whole box for a family.

Friends of Serenity aims to preserve and protect the health of sick pregnant women and those who have suffered a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death in particular but not exclusively by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities, Serenity Suites and equipment at East Lancashire Women and New Born Centre not normally provided by the statutory authorities. We work hard to support newly bereaved parents through the provision of memory boxes and miscarriage keepsakes. By dressing their babies we hope to make distressing and devastating time a little more comforting by taking the pressure off them. These are provided in East Lancashire and throughout the country on public requirement. Additionally, we strive to provide qualified information by any means appropriate on the 2nd most common chromosome disorder Trisomy 13.
