Support the Chatham Education Foundation for a Safe Return to School!

The School District of the Chathams has incurred over $1,000,000 in costs and reductions in revenues due to COVID-19. Given New Jersey's current financial situation, the Board of Education has stated that state aid will likely be reduced, and it is already forgoing planned technology upgrades, but that only covers some of the expected shortfall. Funding from Chatham Education Foundation is critical to supplement tax funding to meet programming needs.

CEF GRANTS

The District has already submitted over $30,000 in innovative grant applications to Chatham Education Foundation for the 2020-2021 school year to help bring students back to school. In a typical year, CEF gives about $100,000 annually in grants to the District. With big state budget cuts looming, lost revenue and additional costs due to COVID-19, the District will need much more than that from CEF this year and in the next few years.

District needs for resources supporting online instruction drastically changed in March 2020. CEF grants will support the SDOC as it expands upon its existing web-based platforms to ensure continuity of instruction and allow for enhanced virtual delivery of class resources, activities, and assignments.

CEF looks forward to helping our students and teachers return to the classroom for the 2020-2021 school year and beyond. We are positioned to help fund grants that provide innovative, safe outdoor learning spaces, as well as necessary resources to help our teachers enhance the learning experience in the classroom.

CEF stands behind the belief that concrete steps can be taken within our schools to help alleviate student stress and anxiety. The current environment has given rise to the need for additional resources within the District to meet the social and emotional needs of its students. CEF is poised to help support the needs of our students, teachers and administrators in this challenging time.

Example: Grant Funded August 2020: Clear Communication with Clear Masks $3,300

CEF established an endowment to address increasing strains on School District of the Chatham's. This Endowment will help the SDOC deal with inevitable budget shocks resulting from unpredictable New Jersey State funding levels.
