Story

Tuesday 29 November is the UN Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people. On this day we are launching a appeal for funds to support young Palestinian musicians, as part of Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 simply to encourage people to do good. Over the last decade, the movement has inspired millions to give generously.

Times are difficult for so many people across the world. Not least for children and young people living in the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza. They are restricted in their everyday lives, facing extreme difficulties and uncertainty about the future.

Music brings great joy into childrens lives, nourishing their hidden talent and making a huge difference to their present and future opportunities.

Support PalMusic and the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music

This Giving Tuesday please donate to PalMusic, and through PalMusic the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music. Help bring music to the lives of young people in Palestine.

You can help transform the lives of young Palestinians like Husam in the Gaza strip. Husam dropped out of school to help his father support his family, which consisted of six members. He started working as a farmer and car mechanic. But Husam never lost his love for music; he would seek out opportunities to hear the drums and started making them from household tools.

Help young people like Husam from Gaza

Upon hearing about Husams passion, the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, Gaza contacted Hussam and offered him a full music scholarship. This allowed him to continue his music education. During the pandemic he joined our Gaza Conservatory Long Distance Learning programme, taught online by tutors in the UK. He has achieved an incredibly high standard, having rising from an unlikely start, fulfilling his ambition of becoming a percussionist.

10 years of working for young people in Palestine

The charity you will be supporting is PalMusic UK, which has spent the last ten years dedicated to improving the lives of young Palestinians through music. Working directly with the leading Palestinian conservatory, the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, you will be supporting more children experience the joy of music and develop their sense of accomplishment and empowerment through musical education. You will also bring hope and helps to reinforce Palestinian culture and self-identity within their communities and abroad.

And who knows? Your money may also fund the next big name in Palestinian music. PalMusic helps to support the most talented musicians pursue their careers through scholarships and concerts; children like Marc Kawwas, who is a scholarship student at one of the top music music schools in the UK, Chethams School of Music, with support from PalMusic. Marc promises to be a shining light and ambassador for his country.

Please help PalMusic today. Every penny you give will provide joy, hope and attainment for Palestinian young people.
