Story

Goodwood Education Trust is an independent charity (registered as The West Sussex Countryside Studies Trust, CIO number 1198212) operating on the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex. The Trust promotes awareness and understanding of the natural environment to children and young people from schools, colleges, community groups and charities across the country. Set up in 1976 by the current Dukes father, the 10th Duke of Richmond, its vision is to inspire a love and understanding of the natural world.

Our ambition is to welcome more disadvantaged children, who may otherwise not have the chance, to experience learning outdoors, strengthen their connection with food production, and benefit from the natural environment. Time spent in nature can dramatically improve mental health and well-being, easing anxiety and increasing socialisation and co-operation.

Increasing funding now will mean we can offer more children, particularly those from schools with a high proportion of disadvantaged children, meaningful, inclusive access to the natural world and improve mental health and well-being.
