Who we are
Hackney Play Association (HPA) is a registered charity that aims to improve children and young people’s health, well-being and quality of life, through play.
What we do
Our vision is for all children and young people in Hackney to have access to high quality, inclusive play opportunities. We support this by providing:
*FREE after school, holiday and youth opportunities.
*Safe, stimulating and inclusive play environments for children and young people.
*Training and qualification courses in playwork and related skills.
Why we do it
We believe that play is vital for children and young people’s health and wellbeing, particularly for children facing barriers due to poverty, disability, gender and race. Our objectives are to:
• Create better play opportunities for children and young people.
• Support play provisions in Hackney, including adventure playgrounds, play streets, play in schools, and play in the parks and public spaces.
• Support the development of Hackney as a ‘Child-Friendly Borough’.
