Gateshead Football Club Foundation is a registered charity (no 1175544) The Foundation aims to be a leading community charity building better lives through sport.

The Foundations projects include :-

Walking Football A programme to help those people who need to get light exercise in order to help maintain a healthier lifestyle. The project is aimed but not limited to people who are over 50 and particularly helps in the reduction of cardiovascular disease. This project also works closely with The Stroke Association.

Disability Football Initially the project will work with disabled children in a school environment. The Foundation is currently working with The Cedars Trust to develop this activity.

Football in Schools The Foundation will be working in schools to help deliver football skills training. This will be in the format of direct skills teaching as well as advice on health and nutrition and plan to include some sessions on Show Racism the Red Card. Our Community officer will also be passing skills and knowledge on to teachers to help with their professional development.

Holiday Football Scheme The Foundation will be delivering football schemes during the school holidays in association with Gateshead Council and Gateshead College.

Junior Heed Club This is a Saturday club which on match days can involve children receiving training with the Community officer and then being involved at the game.

Work with other Charities The foundation is working with other charities as part of their aim to be At the Heart of the Community. They continue to have close partnerships with Gateshead Foodbank, Inspired Support, If U Care Share Foundation, The Cedars Trust and The Stroke Association as well as many others.

During the Covid-19 outbreak the Foundation has been working in the community with our Community posting regular videos on subjects such as fitness, mental health and also letting people know of our Heed at Home initiative. This involves regularly calling people who are alone and self-isolating.
