Story
Supporting activities that encourage and create opportunities for young people to combat crime and create safer communities, the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire Fund was founded in 2017 in partnership with Leeds Community Foundation.
To date the Fund has awarded over £127,000 to 52 fantastic Community Organisations across the region delivering a range of youth-led activity including youth engagement with the police, awareness of domestic violence and a focus of reducing anti-social behaviour.
Grants are awarded from an endowment fund each year thanks to generosity of individuals and businesses which ensure the ongoing legacy of this programme and enable young people across the region now and in the future to create safer communities.
"I have seen the positive impact a small grant from the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire Fund can make to Community Organisations who rely on the dedication of volunteers to work with, listen and empower young people from a diverse range of backgrounds to create safer communities and provide opportunities to enhance their future. Please join me in supporting this Fund to ensure we can continue this important work to give young people the chance to prosper. "
Sue Baker, MBE JP DL, High Sheriff of West Yorkshire
