Story

The Music Hub wants to flood York with music played by our incredibly talented young musicians for a whole weekend next June (22-23rd). The award winning Shepherd Group youth brass band, the York Jazz Orchestra that played in the Youth Proms last year at the Albert Hall, the prize winning rock groups from Best of Bands, stunning youth choirs, great ensembles from our schools and colleges and more, much more .. It could be life changing if it inspires children and young people in the city to pick up an instrument or join a choir. But taking over public spaces is quite a big deal, even when you been given access to them without charge thanks to Make it York and the University of York. There is a huge amount to do and we will not be able do it without raising additional funds. That is where we are hoping you can support us, with a little help from our anonymous donor who will double anything that you give, up to £5,000.

About the charity

YMH is a small independent charity that works with schools and other providers to create opportunities for young people to make and enjoy music. It showcases the best bands and orchestras in the city at public events, and provides grants and bursaries for individuals who need financial support.
