Story

I am honoured to be High Sheriff of Leicestershire for 2021/22. As many of you are aware I'm a proud Leicester lad and have live all my life in Leicestershire, and I can think of no better way to repay the county where I was born, grew up and went on to found my business, than to undertake this historical civic duty and raise some much needed funds for my chosen charities.

Throughout the year I will host a number of events - the aim of which will be to raise funds for five local charities. I'm hoping that during the release phase of the pandemic to bring business, civic and charitable organisations together and better align them for the complex task ahead as we head out into the 'new normal' post pandemic.

Our aim is to raise £30,000 for my chosen charities in Leicestershire and any excess funds will be donated to suitable national charities.

All costs associated with any donations made, events held and expenses incurred during the year will be 100% paid and covered by me.

The Ian and Clare Mattioli Charitable Trust was established by the Mattioli family in 2016. Primarily to help enhance the lives and opportunities of all people and in particular those from communities and socio-economic groups who are often sidelined and struggle to access opportunities for advancement, personal growth and to fully participate in society. Our support is designed to help individuals and groups better their outcomes. At the Trust we support groups or individuals by grant giving for activities relating to the improvement of social welfare through the provision of health, recreational and leisure activities, education, research, employment and establishing connections. Through our charitable activities we hope to provide opportunities for those in need – be that because of youth, age, infirmity, disability, poverty or economic circumstance - to fully participate in a caring and compassionate society. Helping in turn to develop people who see the value in community and diversity, and act with maturity, responsibility, independence and compassion.
