Story

On the 1st September 2019 Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas with winds of up to 220mph, a category 5 storm. The storm has caused widespread destruction across the island with over 70,000 people needing humanitarian assistance. At least 60 people have been killed and over 600 still missing. The island of Abaco and Grand Bahama have been worst affected with with an estimate of 13,000 homes being severely damaged or destroyed.

About the charity

The Jermain Defoe Foundation was founded in 2013 by England striker Jermain Defoe to support homeless, vulnerable and abused young people in his family’s home country of St Lucia. The charity has expanded its cause to support children in need in all Caribbean Islands and the UK.
