We are a charity taking in cats and other animals. All our animals are neutered and for those who cannot find a home we provide one within our shelter. Your donation will help keep our animals happy and healthy, it costs approximately £730 per day to run our shelter. Every penny helps.

Story

I arrived in my foster home with my mum and sister at 7 days old on the evening of November 2017. My mum was very poorly during the late stages of her pregnancy, she had a nasty infection that was passed to me and my siblings while in her womb. As a result of the infection I was the only surviving puppy, although I was very weak. With treatment and lots of help from my foster mum, who would often help feed me when my mum wasnt feeling up to it I became stronger everyday.

My mum wasn't born in the UK like I was, she was born in Romania. At the age of 3 years old I was her third litter, I would also be her last. My mum only has sight in one eye, her back legs have never been good. She has severe hip dysplasia along with arthritis in her hips, due to this, surgery is out of the question. As for me, all my joints are bad leaving me little options for surgery, any pressure put on my joints could cause them to fail quicker. I have been to lots of vet appointments and had consultations with a specialist too. I'm on a high dose of pain killers to help me get through my day, although I do have some discomfort I'm still a very cheeky little chap who loves life everyday. I'm not 2 years old yet but my joints are getting worse by the week! I'm currently on the highest pain medication I can be on from the vets but I am still struggling a little. We are hoping to find alternative treatments and therapies that could aid me along with my medication from the vets.

Update: JJ did have surgery in October 2019. He had a Femoral head ostectomy in his right hip. Ideally he needs the same surgery in his left hip as its causing him lots of pain. After he had his right hip operation we had some very unexpected complications with him causing us to question do we put him through this again to fix his left hip. As time has gone in JJ is struggling more and more so much so we may have to put him through the surgery to try and help alleviate the pain he is in. Your donation will go towards treatment that he needs now and in the future.

Update: in February 2021 £3000 was raised for JJ to have an MRI scan to see if there was anything more that can be done for him. The results was not the best news here is a run down of what was found.

Large supracollicular - Means he has fluid on his brain

Valgus deformity - The reason is front legs knuckle over

Degenerative disc disease - Common in his breed

Multiple disc from his neck to his tail causing problems some causing more mild compression than others.

Final results from the vet was JJ wouldn't be a good candidate for surgery due to the amount of problems he's got going on. His Hydro sessions was also advice to be stopped as this could make the disc in his back worse.

The plan now is to keep JJ as happy and pain free as possible

Your donation will help the costs of my on going vet costs.

love JJ
