Story
No one should face uncertainty about where they will get clean water from. But our changing climate is making life even harder for the worlds poorest people, who are already struggling to get the water they need.
People like Mouri, who needs to collect water from a muddy pond, knowing that it will probably make her family sick. But she has no other choice. When Cyclone Aila hit Bangladesh, it flooded Mouri's village and contaminated their water source.
Families living in coastal Bangladesh are some of the most vulnerable in the world to our climate. That's why, with your support, we develop waterpoints and pipe networks that withstand floods, so that people can continue drinking clean water and stay safe and healthy.
Julia lives in the same region as Mouri and also drinks water from a pond, in an area where groundwater is contaminated with salt, iron and arsenic. But thanks to the pond sand filter we have installed, the water she collects is clean. This simple solution pumps the pond water through a series of chambers containing sand and gravel, making it safe to drink.
With your help, we can reach people like Mouri, and get them the reliable source of clean water they need. By giving something up this Lent, and collecting the money you save, you can give people like Mouri clean, reliable water that withstands our changing climate. You can give families the ability to cope when droughts or floods hit. You can change dread and uncertainty into resilience and strength.
