Andrew Appleby, President of The John Rae Society, is doing a wild winter sponsored sea swim! This is to help the plans to restore The Hall of Clestrain, John Raes family home. His task is to swim one stroke per mile covering the 8008 miles from The Hall to York Factory on Hudson Bay and back! There will be regular updates on his venture amid the cold Orkney waters. He hopes our intrepid Arctic Explorers spirit goes with him. May he raise a significant sum!
