Story
WHAT WE DO
For the past 27 years, KCAH has been a lifeline to those who are sleeping rough or facing other forms of housing crisis in Kingston. We offer a range of vital services such as drop-in advice, emergency supplies and housing referrals.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit back in March last year, we played a key part in helping more than 100 vulnerable people off the streets and into safe, temporary housing in a local hotel. Together with community partners, we also helped to provide them with meals, vital supplies and support for a wide range of issues from addiction to mental health.
Everyone 'In For Good'
Now, we are helping the people who have been in our care during the pandemic, somewhere more appropriate and permanent to stay, such as shared houses and flats. We want to make sure that they are 'In For Good' and that they continue to receive the vital support and resources needed, to give them a fresh start and to help them move on with their lives.
New Residential Recovery Centre
We're in the process of setting up a residential recovery centre for up to seven people who have recently experienced homelessness and have problematic issues around drug and alcohol. This will be based at the Joel Centre (formerly the Joel Community Night Shelter) and run by experienced practitioners who will support participants through a structured and positive, strengths-based day programme.
By donating to KCAH, you are helping to ensure that our projects are successful and sustainable. Ultimately, you are helping to keep some of Kingston's most vulnerable people off the streets for good and to transform their lives.
Thank you so much for your support!
