Story

Current fundraise is for a defibrillator (life saving equipment)

Killen (Killeen) community residents group was established during 2021. We started as a small group to tackle social isolation and improve the physical and mental wellbeing of our community. We decided to campaign for better play facilities at the only play park in our area. We successfully had the park fully resurfaced with new wall equipment, Table and bins. We had solar lighting installed. We had two murals created on the outside walls and due further wall designs inside.

Speeding was raised as concerns so we worked along side local councillors and road service to have speed limits reduced, speed ramps beside the playpark due to the dangers it presented children leaving the park.

We had white Led lighting upgrades across all housing developments and currently assisting one development with this.

We have run (party in the park) which seen children dance to music, place the hands in paint and projected onto the community wall. This was then professionally sealed to prevent weather related damage. We had arts and crafts at both events

We run an event (Family fun day) where Mickey and Mini mouse attended. Bouncy castles, Hot food, sweets and a major raffle.

We run a 2nd event (family fun day returns) where we had pizza catering, sweet stalls, bouncy castles, live Entertainment. We had a minion and grew attend.

We had a bus shelter installed which is being upgraded soon.

We have done referrals for people facing debt problems, supported a local mental health service.

We where provided two pallets of compost which we delivered to households to allow the community to grow there own fruit, vegetables, plants.

We installed our own dog fouling station to prevent dog waste being left on footways, grass areas.

We have helped return live animals which broke out of fields.

We promoted dog safety due to poisons being left causing illness or death to our 4 leg friends.

We have reported hazards from potholes, loose kerbing or other hazards reported or noted by us.

Our aim is if we our unable to help we will always sign post. Our team is all volunteers to provide there time to better enhance the area we live in. Our events our open to the wider public and not just residents.

The next event due is Easter at killen 2023, this event will give each child an eatable Easter egg, children/adults will be invited to paint there own eggs (provided by us) arts and crafts will be available and a surprise visit by the Easter Bunny.

Events we hold is funded by donations from the wider community and support of local businesses.

Unfortunately funding is not easy to obtain and we heavily depend on community donations

Help us!! help you!! stronger together!!
