Story
Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures, which is why we are asking if you are in a position to help current LWC families who are facing financial hardship due to COVID-19.
The effects of the Coronavirus have been far-reaching. The longer-term economic impact is unfolding and numerous LWC families are now facing an unforeseen financial crisis, and are struggling to pay school fees. At a time of great uncertainty, we want to provide stability and reassurance for all our pupils, but especially those from families who are experiencing a severe change in circumstances.
Families have been approaching us with requests for financial help with school fees. This is the last thing they ever imagined they would do. Most have been committed to the College for many years, and at this point, they need assistance and assurance to see their children through their education.
Last term, we were able to help 15 families (20 pupils) with Single Term Bursaries to help with fees for the Summer term.
We are enormously grateful for the support extended to us. The pandemic has had a significant detrimental impact on our family finances with one income lost. LWC has shown us nothing but humility and understanding. This has been an enormously stressful time and the sleepless nights worrying about how we could maintain our childs place at his beloved school have not been easy. Everything we love about LWC and the unique experience and environment our child has been fortunate to experience as a pupil, we have now experienced first hand and most sincerely appreciated and valued.
We are already receiving requests for support for the Autumn Term and anticipate this will continue throughout the academic year and perhaps beyond. Some parents have been furloughed or made redundant, whilst others have seen a significant drop in income as they are self-employed. We want to be able to offer support to as many families as we can. As such, the College has set aside some additional funds for this but we urgently need the help of the LWC Community to enable us to do more.
Lord Wandsworth College has always been an incredible community made up of current and former pupils, parents, staff and governors. It is our strength and we know that we will pull together to help our families in need who have been, and will be, affected by this unprecedented disruption to their lives.
Please support this Appeal. Whatever the size of your gift, it will have an immediate impact by helping to relieve the financial burden facing many LWC families today.
