CAN YOU HELP US LIGHT UP A TOWN?

400 children living in an orphan town in Eswatini need some light.

Challenge Ministries Swaziland UK is a registered charity passionate about changing lives in Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland. Our heart is to raise a generation of Godly, educated children who are free from neglect, abuse, and poverty.

They will lead at local and national levels, affecting economic and social change. We currently care for over 400 orphaned and vulnerable children throughout Eswatini. The majority live in a restored, previously abandoned mining town called Bulembu.

At night it gets very dark and general street lighting is needed throughout the town, and the children's homes. There are often power cuts too plunging the town into darkness.

Installing solar lighting will:

- Provide and improve lighting conditions from dusk till morning, around the 48 children's homes and 2 dining halls.

- Enhance the safety and security at the childrens' homes, minimising the risk of tripping, falling, or stepping on creatures like snakes. This will be especially helpful whenever the children or caregivers have to walk home from the dining hall in winter, as the sun sets significantly earlier than in summer and visibility on the pathways become compromised.

- Effect savings on current electricity costs incurred at the childrens' homes site.

- The project will benefit the childrens' homes for at least 5 years (based on the estimated typical lifespan of the battery and LED components of the specific solar lights quoted on).
