Supporting Afghan evacuees and asylum seekers in the UK

Campaign to help fund basic clothing and other essential needs for Afghan evacuees and people from other countries seeking asylum in the UK

The International Association for Human Values (IAHV) was founded in Geneva in 1997, to foster, on a global scale, deeper understanding of the values that unite us as a human community. Our aim is to promote an awareness of the importance of human values, encourage their development, and to initiate and support projects in the UK and throughout the world that meet the fundamental objectives of the IAHV organisation in Human Values (and which meet our criteria).

Story

This campaign is to support Afghan evacuees and people seeking asylum with their essential needs in the UK.

There are more than 700 Afghan evacuees and a similar number of people seeking asylum (from other countries) living temporarily in hotels in Kensington and Chelsea. While the Home Office is providing food and shelter, many things needed to create dignified living conditions are absent or in short supply.

IAHV UK, working with other partner organisations at the grassroots level, has identified about 320 women whose basic clothing needs are unmet. The majority of these women had to flee their homes with whatever they could carry with them.

This campaign is to raise funds for clothing and other essentials for the evacuees and asylum seekers. Our intention is to support dignified living conditions for them, whether their next step is permanent housing (for most of the evacuees) or the resolution of their asylum applications.
