MC Events are hosting yet another amazing event to support a number of wonderful charities, and MAP have been lucky enough to be selected once again as one of them.

The event will start on the 18th August until the 20th August and will be an amazing journey between two iconic cities, cycling through beautiful, idyllic countryside, 35 miles of traffic free roads in France and finishing at The Eiffel Tower in Paris.

This year, the money raised from the cyclists supporting MAP will go towards our malnutrition project.

For many of Gaza's almost 2 million residents, there is a daily struggle to afford nutritious food for their families. 15 years of blockade and repeated outbreaks of hostility by Israel have caused basic infrastructure, service delivery and many livelihoods to erode. As a result, more than half of Gazans live below the poverty line.

Gaza's children deeply feel the effect of food insecurity, with many at risk of chronic malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies, which can cause stunted development and have irreversible health consequences.

At MAP, we are working with our partner Ard El Insan (AEI) to address the growing problem and improve the nutritional health status of children and their families in the southern Gaza Strip. The project also works to improve the knowledge and health of coeliac patients.

As well as providing essential medical care, our programme distributes dry food packages, provides fresh meals, and supplements, and runs health education and awareness sessions around food preparation.

The long-term objective of this project is to improve the nutritional health status of the population of Gaza. Our immediate goals are to:

- Reduce the occurrence of moderate/severe acute malnutrition among young children

- Reduce the incidence of moderate/severe stunting among young children

- Reduce the relapse rate among children who have been discharged from AEI's clinic

- Improve the quality of life of patients with coeliac disease throughout Gaza

MAP is committed to continuing our long-term support for children suffering from acute and chronic malnutrition in Gaza. It is incredibly unfair that a child born in Gaza is at such high risk of malnutrition and stunting simply because of where they were born.

£15,000 would cover the total cost of 2 nurses salaries for the entire year conducting nutritional assessments.

£10,000 would give malnourished children specialist high-nutrient food packages for two months; on average, children only need a three-month supply.

£5,000 will provide regular transport for families living in extreme poverty to the AEI centre as they receive treatment; these children would not be able to receive care without it.
