Story
Alhamdulillah after being closed for 106 days during the lockdown, Makki Masjid finally re-opened for congregational prayers on Saturday 4th July 2020.
During the closure, the Masjid missed out on many months of Friday prayers which are essential in raising funds to cover operational costs. Since the re-opening, the Masjid has now also incurred additional monthly costs in order to meet Government guidelines which are pivotal to remaining open for prayers.
At present, our monthly outgoings are roughly £5,000 per month which includes, but not limited to, the following:
- The purchase of PPE for congregation and volunteer use during the daily and Friday prayers
- Regular cleaning of the Masjid prayer halls and surfaces
- Staff wages (including those due to come off furlough when the scheme ends)
- Basic overheads such as utility bills and other monthly outgoings
Between July to December our expenses are estimated to be around £31,000 and we must raise these funds during this period to ensure we can continue operating. We are therefore appealing to all our brothers and sisters to donate generously towards the House of Allah and attain a great reward and blessing in doing so. Allah, the Exalted, says:
The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give zakah and do not fear except Allah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided. [At-Tawbah 9:18]
We pray that Allah accepts your donations and showers you with His blessings and mercy for every amount you donate, Aameen.
Remember to share this page with family and friends, and for every penny they donate you will also have a share of the reward Inshaa'Allah.
