Mark has a long history of working at Hillingdon hospital. He was manager of Bevan Ward for 10 years, then led the Palliative Care Service before taking up the role of Matron in supporting staff on all wards. He is very popular with patients, their families, and all staff who have had the pleasure of working with him.
He is a keen runner but has never run a marathon before. He decided to do it this year to raise funds in support of the colleagues he worked shoulder to shoulder with throughout the devastating time at the height of the pandemic. During this time he worked in Palliative Care being witness to unprecended levels of death, and the extraordinary circumstances in which the deaths occurred. He saw the tragic and emotional effect on individuals and families who couldn't be together at such an intimately crucial time; he saw and felt the impact which will stay with staff for the rest of their lives.
He wanted to give something back to staff who are still reeling from their experiences, and so he is running a marathon.
Please support him and all staff at Hillingdon who came through for us.
