Hi everyone Meeko has had a bit of a set back and is being sick and regurgitating his food again. The specialists dealing with Meekos condition have now carried out more tests and he has now had endoscopic biopsies of his stomach and oesophagus. Meeko has oesophagal pouching where the food collects in a small pouch in the oesophagus and this is a common finding in brachycephalic dogs and can be responsible for regurgitation. Unfortunately, there is no surgical treatment for this only long term management.
Meeko is suffering from chronic gastroenteritis which can be caused by many things and he is already on medication to relieve the symptoms. His allergic skin disease is still quite bad and he is continuing the treatment for this but if there is no improvement it was recommended he see a skin specialist.
His ongoing veterinary treatment will continue for the duration of his life and is a financial cost that will be borne by the Charity.
All in all he is a wee fighter and continues to be a happy, lovely boy.
