Milly's Smiles have been helping families whose child has been diagnosed with a cancer related illness for over 4 years.
When we began our work we were operating from a small garage which we quickly outgrew. For the last 3 years we have been renting a small second floor office in Great Harwood which has been brilliant. However over the last 12 months we have taken on a further 2 hospitals and have tripled our bag distribution.
As such, we are struggling on several levels; storage of all the items for the bags is restricted, which has a knock on effect of us ordering small amounts of stock at a time which is reflected in the price of the stock. We are only able to store 20 made up Milly Bags at any one time, so are constantly making up the bags which takes us away from other vital work. The office is up 4 flights of stairs, carrying all our deliveries up these stairs is impractical and at times unsafe.
Our new unit will eradicate all of the above issues, it is ground floor, with room for industrial racking to store all our stock, and there is more than enough storage to last for many years to come. However, we need to do some building work to make the unit workable.
We have awarded the work to a local builder and as such we are looking for support to help us fund this. The bill from the builders is £8520. Any help towards these costs will be so very gratefully received.
