Story

The Minds in Action Challenge - a friendly team-based - walk, run, cycle and swim - virtual challenge taking place on the GoJoe app between 23 July (5am BST) to 6 August (5pm BST) 2021. Join one of the x5 teams and get moving. KMs mean points (weighted by activity type to level the playing field). Whichever team gets the most-points, wins. It's free to take part and open to all.

The teams consist of:- Rutland Cycling, CPSL Mind, BLMK Mind, Northamptonshire Mind, Nottinghamshire Mind

Exercise on your own, but not alone. Use this challenge to take time to enjoy a bit of community/team spirit, to invest in your physical and mental wellbeing and to move with purpose and raise money/awareness for us.

Each team has a 'person of interest' as captain. The challenge host and captain of Rutland Cycling is Dani Rowe MBE - a three times cycling world champion and 2012 Olympic Gold Medallist. As well as taking part in the challenge, Dani and the other captains will be sharing their top tips and rallying all participants.

At CPSL Mind we are lucky to have Sarah Bailey (aka the Gym Medic) as our Captain. Sarah is a NHS doctor specializing in sports injury and a mental health advocate. She is a fitness instructor and helps to support young people who wish to become doctors by giving lectures and webinars full of advice and encourages people from underprivileged backgrounds to get into medicine by helping to open doors for them. She set up The Gym Medic which is an online initiative to help educate and advise people on illness and injury, there are blogs, vlogs, social media pages.

Anyone who raises money within the bands outlined below is automatically entered into the prize draw where you could have the chance to win some incredible prices such as Elite Suito T Direct Drive Turbo Trainer (RRP £629.99), Raleigh Strada x (RRP £499.99), Met Rivale MIPS Helmet Red Metallic (RRP £140) and much more!. Prize brackets would be:

o Over £500 raised - Bundle #1 worth approx. £1,500

o £300 to £500 raised Bundle #2 worth approx. £1,000

o £100 to £300 raised Bundle #3 worth approx. £400

Entry is based on funds raised by Sunday 15th August.

GoJoe is about km-based activities (walking, running, cycling and swimming), not steps. This is to encourage movement in the form of an actual walk or run, rather than tracking boring steps from the sofa to the fridge. It also means that you don't need a step counter and that walkers can have a bit of friendly competition against the other activity types. Every km counts. It doesn't matter whether you're a dog walker or serious athlete - it's all about the team. Details of how to sign up and get involved are below. Check the app to see live standings. Share on social using #MindsInAction.
