Help Moses get his specialised trike!
Moses, who has a rare genetic condition, is hoping to raise funds for an adapted trike so he can finally join his family on bike rides for the first time!
Story
Seven-year-old Moses is in desperate need of donations to fund a life-changing trike.
Moses, who his mum describes as being a "very happy, loving and sociable" little boy, has a rare genetic condition known as Cri-du-chat, which is characterised by delayed physical and mental development.
Moses, who loves to help with cooking and baking, is hoping to raise £1,344 to help fund a specially adapted trike, so he can join his three-year-old brother and family on bike rides and get some much-needed exercise.
Moses' mum, Sarah, explains
Due to his condition, Moses has mobility issues and poor balance, so a regular bike isnt suitable for him. We just want him to be able to take part in all the things that kids love, including bike rides, especially as he loves the outdoors so much. If we manage to get all the funding it will be his first ever bike!
The adapted trike can be pushed by Moses parents using a handle at the back and it can also be attached to another bike, meaning the whole family can cycle together.
Sarah says:
Moses has a poor understanding of safety, so being able to control the trike ourselves or attach it to our own bikes will give us peace of mind but it also means that Moses can feel included. The added benefit of getting some exercise whilst having fun is also a big bonus.
Weve always found that getting out and about in the countryside is really important for Moses' mental wellbeing, so although weve tried to get outdoors as much as we can, lockdown has been tough. He'll spend hours in the garden digging for worms and spiders and loves going for walks or trips to the beach."
Sarah and her family are hoping that they can raise the remaining funds in time for their annual family holiday in Cornwall this summer, so they can explore the Cornish coast and countryside together.
